» achieveing our goals will also require open, honest communication: if I am not making sense, tell me. if I make a mistake, correct me. be prepared to make mistakes, and accept corrections (ie, don't take it personally)
» learning is not a competition. for some people math comes easily, and for some people it doesn't. having difficulty with math does not make you stupid or a bad person. likewise, being good at math does not make you smart or a good person. regardless of where you fall on this spectrum, everyone can learn algebra/geometry, and that's what we're here to do.
» the state of north carolina wants to make sure that its high school graduates understand math at a certain level, and so they've enacted legislation that requires end of course testing. these tests are given, cleverly, at the end of the course, and will be used to determine if you have passed the course, and if you can proceed to the next level of mathematics study. last year, $percentage of the class passed this test. it is my goal to see that each and every student who honestly wants to pass the test, does so.
